Dermographism, Rashes and Hives at 14-Years-Old

During the summer I was hanging out with my best friend and I noticed that my arm was starting to get itchy so I just started to scratch it. When I looked down there were rashes all over where I had been scratching. I showed my mom and she thought that maybe it was just allergies, but then I started getting the hives/rashes out of nowhere about 7-10 times a day all over my body and my mom had no clue what was going on.

Finally about 3 months later my mom took me to the doctor and he did a test on me and came to the conclusion that I had dermographism. He put me on anti-histamines and I have been on them for a few days now and my rashes/hives have not been as bad but I am still getting them occasionally.

I have now been suffereing from this for 3 and 1/2 months and I already know that I am not going to like this at all.

I Know How You Feel

Wow, I am a 14 year old boy too. I have had this skin condition for one and a half years and its been terrible. I take Benadryl. I "was" a really rough person with my friends but its really embarrassing when I get the hives, so I am scared to be in public and be rough.

It feels good knowing somebody the same age as me is going through the same thing.

What kind of antihistamine are you taking?

Wow I am 14 also but I have had Dermographism since grade 6. I used to be a pretty rough person and me and my friends used to wrestle. Now I play basketball and whenever the ball hits me in the head or I just get hit a little I swell up. It is really embarrassing and the Benadryl I am taking doesnt really help. What antihistamine are you taking that really reduced the swells? It's really hard and my parents don't really understand what I am going through.
