More Facial Toner or Astringent Recipes
STRAWBERRY TONER
This is an astringent for oily skin.
1/2 C. mashed strawberries
1/2 C. sour cream or plain yogurt
Purée ingredients in a blender at low speed until well mixed and fluffy. Apply to the face and neck areas. Rinse with tepid water after 30 minutes.
If mask is too runny after blending, refrigerate for one hour.
Make mask the day you plan to use it.
Chamomile and Mint Astringent
This is a non-alcoholic astringent for oily and/or sensitive skin.
1/2 cup chopped fresh mint (or 2 tbs. dried)
2 tbs. dried chamomile flowers, crushed
4 cups water
Combine ingredients in a small saucepan. Boil for 10 minutes, then remove from heat and allow to steep for 5 minutes. Strain liquid into a jar, cover and refrigerate. Will keep 2 weeks refrigerated. Apply with cotton balls to the skin.
Citrus Astringent
3 tsp. lemon extract
Juice of one lime
1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
Combine ingredients in a small bowl. Transfer to a jar and shake well.
Store in the refrigerator, will keep up to 6 months.
This astringent or skin toner tightens pores,
refreshes skin, and helps remove excess oils from skin.
CUCUMBER-LEMON TONIC
This is a soothing astringent or skin toner that is great for oily skin. It tightens pores and can be used to soothe sunburns or even as an all natural deoderant.
1 C. witch hazel
Juice of 1 lemon
3 T. coarsely chopped cucumber
Mix in a clean glass bottle, then let set for 2 days. Remove cucumber. Keep
lotion in a cool place or the refrigerator to use as a splash.
