Unknown Circular Skin Rash on Arm

Can anyone help me identify what this is on my arm? It is perfectly circular and about a size of a quarter. It appeared out of nowhere and it is all red. It does not itch but is tender to the touch. Can anyone tell me what it might be, such as a bite of some sort or allergic reaction to something, etc.

Softball Size Rashes on Daughter
by: Anonymous

The rash appeared out of no where an we went to the emergency room. The doctors had no idea what it was! It is as mentioned in previous comments but larger than others mentioned and she has three on her upper arm, side and inner knee, 2 to three inches in diameter and perfectly circular, not very itchy, hot to the touch, tender, and red raised bumpy throughout. The ER doctor put her on antibiotics and a cream but no real change in the week of taking medications.

I have the same thing but on my left inner thigh. I have the same symptoms, not itchy but painful to touch. I would also like to know what this is.

Red Perfect Circle Flakes
by: Anonymous

This is like the fourth episode since October of 2016. I have noticed that the area affected is dryer and itchier than normal. Then a tiny similar to chicken pox mark (not chicken pox for sure) appears. Then two days later, it changes to a circle, sometimes a perfect circle. I have had this on my back, legs, arms, chest, and hips. The affected and surrounding areas are hot to the touch. The skin gets itchier when the dry skin in center forms and begins to flake.

It has been about eight days of this nightmare of God knows what. The doctor has me on Allegra because I get spinal injections and so the thinking is steroid allergy. She even said stress! Really I am all polka dotted because of STRESS? She said it is not scabies, not bed bugs, and no known bug bite. I asked about the *C* word which I refuse to say since my whole family died from it. In two months, I go to see a dermatologist. Personally I do not feel it is a common thing because I tend to get the weird and unknown but not dangerous things.

I am using hydrocortisone extra strength and it helps but it does not resolve the issue. If you find out what this is please let me know.

Lyme Disease

It can be LYME disease!

If it is Lyme then it is followed by extreme fatigue, pain, headache, etc. You should undergo some specific blood tests for this.

Same Rash on Arms

I have the same exact rash on my arms. I have several raised bumps that look identical to this picture. I do not use essential oils. Do you have any other explanation?

Reporting back...
by: Anonymous

It turns out that the large spot on my forearm I had was a burn from sun exposure after using essential oils that were (apparently poorly) mixed with a carrier oil as a bug repellant, before heading out on the lake. In other words, a chemical burn/photo sensitivity. As I routinely use essential oils, with no effect, it took a while for me to figure out what it was. I did so by realizing I had another spot behind my ear where I also applied the oil. The spots are gone for the most part, but still discolored, like a large scar.

Red Hot Circle on Arm and Back
by: Anonymous

I have had the same thing going on for five years now and it is a complete circle on my left upper arm and a complete circle on my back. It always appears in the same spot and always looks the same. It lasts for about a week and then goes away and then I will not get it again until maybe in the middle of the year. Maybe I will get it three times in one year. It is a very red complete circle hot to the touch, hot to the touch, and slightly itches.

Same Rash
by: Steph

Ok, the rash I have is on my left forearm and appears about once a month. I have had this going on six months now. It is more like a red, raised welt than a rash. It starts out the size of a silver dollar and then slowly decreases in size to about the size of a dime. It lasts for a couple of weeks and then looks like a very faint birthmark until it starts up again a few weeks later. It has a slight itch for literally 2-3 minutes when I first notice it but that is it. No pain, no other itching, nothing. It is so strange.

I haven't gone to the dermatologist yet because it isn't painful or irritating and I don't want to make a big deal out of nothing but it is driving me crazy trying to figure out what it is.

Itchy Rash on Forearm

I have the exact same circular, non-itchy, burn-like rash on my forearm. Has anyone figured out what this could be?

Another thing to look into if you have spots like this is Lyme's Disease. You get it from tick bites.

Same Rash Problem on Arm
by: Anonymous

I too have this rash on my arm and all it does is itch, but I don't know what it is? It's been there for a month already and it does seem to have grown a little, so that's pretty freaky.

VERY CONCERNED PLEASE HELP
by: Anonymous

I have had this appear on my foot. I've had this for many months now and never paid attention to it because I always thought it was a mosquito bite, but it's gotten bigger and bigger - quarter size now and it looks like the photo except a lot darker. It is starting to spread and more of them are showing up on my leg. I use to go tanning at a salon, could that be a factor. Is it a cancer spot? Please someone help me! They said they would refer me to a specialist but that will take months!

Rash with Lack of Vitamin D or Diabetes
by: Anonymous

I am currently going through a similar ordeal. Two things I think it could be is to get tested to see if you are low in Vitamin D, which causes rashes like this, or if you are a diabetic, which will show up on your skin as well. Today's date is 29/08/2014 and I am scanning the Internet right now while I am waiting for blood test results to come back from my doctor.

Six months ago I was told I had a lack of Vitamin D and a week ago I went and saw a skin specialist and he told me to see a doctor and get checked for diabetes. So that is just my personal input. Remember that every case is different. It could also be a food allergy. I would think that the rash could start with things like avocados, cheese, nuts, and all breads. The list can go on and on but you have to avoid one item at a time, and not eat it for 2 to 3 weeks to see if there is are changes and then go onto the next food item until you see a difference.

SAME RASH
by: Anonymous

I have the same rash. It is not ringworm. I have had that before and it is very itchy and spreads rapidly! This rash is on my ankle and also looks like a scar with a couple of pimples. It appears like a burn but it has appeared out of nowhere!

See a Dermatologist
by: Anonymous

I am speaking from experience. I had several perfectly round pink to red spots of different sizes and in different locations on my body. Most fell between my thighs and neck. I didn't pay any attention to them because they did not itch and were not painful. I don't feel comfortable diagnosing on here but I would strongly suggest that anyone with suspicious looking rashes/spots really need to see a dermatologist. I knew it wasn't skin cancer from past experience but had no idea there are other diseases that present themselves on the skin and are not directly a skin disease. I waited for four years before I was concerned enough to go. Please don't wait.

Thought it was Ringworm
by: Brianna

Help! What is this? At first I thought it was ringworm and put Absorbine Jr. on it. It seemed to help at first but now my forearm looks like the picture from this post. I feel so gross and contagious.

Found a Cure for this Skin Rash
by: viper20

It is a rash that develops on most people and there is a cure. Go to your skin doctor and I am sure he will prescribe a cream mix called TIAMOL CRM 0.05% FLUOCINONIDE 0.05% (EMOL). You apply it sparingly twice daily to the skin rash. In two weeks you will start to see the circular rash fading. It is related to Eczema rash.

I have the same circular skin rash. Did you discover what it is?
by: Sal

I have the same circular skin rash on my right arm bicep and sometimes it does itch. I have had it now for three months. I have also discovered a circular rash area on my back, hip, and ankle. All of these spots are dime size. I noticed them when I itch in that area.

Does anyone know what this is?

Same Circular Rash
by: Anonymous

I had a patch suddenly appear. First it looked like a scar then it got red around the edges. I treated it like ringworm, but it didn't get better nor did it spread. I thought it might be a "Christmas tree rash" but I never got the small rash that follows a few weeks after. Perhaps it is nummular eczema?

Same Quarter Sized Skin Rash on Arm
by: Anonymous

I had the same exact quarter-sized rash on my arm as well. Now, probably related, I have smaller (anywhere from pinpoint to dime sized) red spots all over my arms, front torso, upper (I mean WAY upper, and inner) thighs, armpits, and neck. WHAT IS THIS?

It is NOT itchy (at least, I don't feel more itchy than I normally would from day to day without the spots).

Circular Skin Rash not Ringworm
by: Anonymous

My boyfriend has the same thing on his arm, which is why I have been looking it up. He thought it was a ringworm skin rash problem and put on the creams and antifungal products to treat it but nothing has helped. I have touched the affected skin area on his arm and I did not develop any kind of skin rash at all so I know it is likely not contagious. I do not know what this circular skin rash on his arm is! He said it showed up one night after he was at the gym, so maybe it could have been a contagious fungus and now that he's had it for a while it is no longer contagious? WHO KNOWS? I would appreciate any helpful suggestions on what this skin rash problem is and how to treat it.

Circular Red Rash
by: Arlene

I have a circular red rash about the size of a quarter on my left foot. I thought, at first, it was due to my shoe, but I change my shoes often enough. It has a very tiny red dot, almost invisible to the human eye. Doesn't itch, but it's not going away. Do I need to see a doctor?

How long have you had this, and has it always been this dark. Was it a lighter pink at one time.

VERY CONCERNED!!!
by: Anonymous

I am going through the same things as well and I do not know what it could be. It started off as a little mark that sort of looked like a ringworm rash and then it spread and now looks just like the picture above. It itches from time to time and it is pretty embarrassing! Can you help me and give me an idea of what it may be or what cuased it.

Ringworm Skin Rash
by: Anonymous

It could be ringworm. If you've never heard of ringworm, I'll assure you it has nothing to do with worms. It is contagious however. Antifungal cream or antiseptic will help get rid of it if that's the case. Visit this link for more information.
