Dermographism Story

I wrote in about 6 or 7 months ago with my rash/hives/dermographism story. Finally, after every test out there and everything coming back negative, I decided to go with the holistic approach. I found a Natural Allergy Relief Therapist.

Since I have been seeing an allergy therapist, I have not had any hives or rash in 4 months. I am completely off any type of medicine and I feel great. I have not gone back to my allergy doctor, locally or at the Cleveland Clinic. If any of you out there can find a Natural Allergy Relief Therapist - I strongly recommend going! I feel like I finally have my life back.

Rash with Itch but no Hives

I thought I had it this rash licked and now I am having an rash attack with incredible itch but no hives. I have been on Reactine for 5 years and mostly had good luck controlling it. I will try anything to rid me of this terrible itch. I am now taking Benadryl to sleep and Reactine during the day. I was covered with hives for the whole second year of my life and then it reappeared when I was 35 and has been here for the last 5 years. Help!

Dermographia for Several Years

I have had dermographia skin rash for several years now. I am 19 years old and do not remember when it started but I don't believe I have always had it. My main issue is the itching. When I scratch to try and relieve the itch, I simply start itching elsewhere and then I welt up and get red. It continues until it becomes so uncomfortable I have to force myself to sit very still until the itching subsides.

I will definitely try the Noni juice! I never knew that what I had was a skin condition. I had always assumed it was normal. Thank you for taking the time to post this and share all the information. Hopefully I will find out soon what it feels like to not itch whenever you scratch yourself!

Hives

One day, about a month ago now, my scalp became so itchy I had my husband check my scalp thinking I might have dry skin...nothing. By day 2, it was my scalp and top of my hands and lower arms. Day 3, scalp, lower and upper arms & shoulders...and it just continued. Benadryl helped at first, and then it was like eating candy.

After less than a week, I went to my doctor, who sent me to an allergist. After being tested, I seem to have only mild environmental allergies and nothing more serious, which was good but at the same time frustrating because he could not tell me what my problem was. With a little more talking he came to the conclusion it was a reaction from an antibiotic I had taken, two weeks prior to the outbreak. He indicated that this would all go away once the drug was out of my system.

So here I sit, three weeks into my wonderful skin condition. Every day it is different - arms, my back, legs. It keeps my life interesting. Is this antibiotic not out of my system yet?

I have spent many hours online trying to figure out what is wrong. I did all the things, like everyone else, removed detergents, kept a food diary, etc. Nothing made a difference. Then I came across this wonderful hives and rash blog. I did a test and wrote my name on my forearm and guess what? My name, within a minute, was red, raised, and hives were forming around the letters! I think I have found out what my problem is....Yah! I know this may sound strange but at least I know now and can try to deal with it accordingly.

At my last doctor’s visit, he did prescribe me Hydroxyzine 25mg. He wanted me to take it 3 times a day, every 8 hours. I did this only one day because I found it made me sleep the day away and I felt very disconnected. Researching Hydroxyzine, it is also used as an anti-depressant. So if you are on anti-depressants, be very carful, it will increase all of the anti-depressant side effects, at least it did with me.

So now I only take it at night, one pill, which does help with the itching and lets me sleep. My next step is to see my doctor again and discuss all of the above with him and see what he suggests. Wish me luck!
